Thatchers is continuing to build on its reputation for innovation with the launch of its new Ciderberry fruit cider for 2010.
Ciderberry is a rich, red, medium fruit cider, which is infused with the natural berry juices of specially selected blackcurrants, raspberries and blueberries. Softly sparkling, this Somerset cider has a refreshingly more-ish taste created by this mix of berry juices, and has been designed to be enjoyed chilled or over ice.
Martin Thatcher, managing director of Thatchers Cider says, “Thatchers Ciderberry is the natural progression for existing fruit cider consumers. Fruit and Pear is still the fastest growing cider category, and is proving to be an exciting market where innovation is vital for success.
“Ciderberry has a slightly drier taste than other fruit ciders currently in the market with a unique blend of berries. We believe it is this blend that will appeal to a more sophisticated palate.”
Packaged for sharing in a wine-style 750ml flint bottle, Ciderberry has an abv of 5.4%. It has a striking silver label which levers the strong heritage messages of Thatchers Cider and the new contemporary berry flavours.
Thatchers Ciderberry has been designed to create a sister brand to Katy Rosé, which was launched in 2009. Katy Rosé has been showing strong growth in both the on and off trades, and as the first blush cider to be produced purely from apples, once again demonstrated the company’s passion for coming up with something new.
Martin continues, “Ciderberry is a really versatile cider and will appeal to both a male and female market, and in particular for sharing. It can be drunk chilled as an aperitif, with or without food, and will make a refreshing alternative to more traditional ciders, wine and lager.”

Notes to editors
Thatchers has made fine cider in Somerset for over 100 years.
Crafted using freshly pressed English apples, many of our traditional ciders are based on authentic recipes and matured in oak. Today these complement the new, refreshingly different drinks in Thatchers' award winning range.
