Chef Academy

Chef Academy apprentice

The Railway Inn is the Cider House and Restaurant proud to deliver high quality traditional style food and premium drinks sourcing from local where possible. Our service and offering is attentive and well presented, the kind of which we believe a pub at the heart of the community should be.

As a cider apprentice you will be working in our dynamic team based within our busy Railway Inn Kitchen

This is a busy environment and as an apprentice you will be a valuable part of the team, preparing fresh produce for the days service, working through orders and plating up. We also hope that at some point you can take the lead on one our stations e.g. desserts or sauces.

Thatchers Cider Company

As one of the top cider-making businesses in the world we are proud of what we have achieved, and we are even more excited about our plans for the future. We continue to experience huge growth of our Brands through industry-leading levels of investment in marketing, people development, innovation and world class technical enhancements in cider mill machinery. As a fourth generation family cider-maker, founded in 1904, we are very proud of our Somerset roots and our close proximity to Bristol means an easy commute if you like the city life.

Thatchers People

The Thatchers team is action-orientated, adaptable and resourceful with high levels of resilience to compete in an exciting yet competitive market place. We work hard and, together, we achieve great things. We have a desire to learn, a thirst for knowledge and a passion for quality cider that customers enjoy across the world.

Training & Development

We know it is a big decision to take your first steps in a career and at Thatchers we ensure that we give you all the training, support and development you need to succeed. What we ask in return is hard-work and trust and for you to share the same enthusiasm and passion for our business as we do.

As well as the training you will receive from our experienced team at The Railway Inn you will also receive all of your apprenticeship training through The School of Food. This has been designed by Michelin-starred chef, Josh Eggleton and Best Ambassador for Food winner, Adrian Kirikmaa. These two highly experienced chefs have joined forces with the Ofsted outstanding rated Weston College and Ashton Gate Stadium to develop a unique training programme that will give young people access to high-quality kitchens, industry experts and invaluable insights.

The School of Food delivers all the training for the L2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. As part of the chef academy you will attend a weekly masterclass at Bristol’s Ashton Gate delivered by the School of Food.
