Cider Academy Apprentice Job Description

- Location – Myrtle Farm, Sandford, Somerset, BS25 5RA

- Working Pattern – Full-time
- Hours – Minimum 39 hours a week operation in a shift pattern. Shift patterns consist of an early shift, day shift and occasional night shift on a rota basis.
- Apprenticeship Level – Level 2 Food & Drink Process Operator
- Apprenticeship duration – 18 months
As a cider apprentice you will experience the process of how to take an apple and turn it into a packaged cider.
The main part of the apprenticeship will be a rotation on each of our packing lines. These lines use state of the art engineering and technology to package our cider and as a cider technician you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining, operating, and fixing them along with carrying out quality and having responsibility for hygiene, wastage, planning and health and safety.
As well as understanding the technical operations you will also have the opportunity to understand the science behind the process and work with our laboratory technicians and specialist cider teams who make our world-famous cider.

What you’ll be doing?
Tasks will be varied, but will include the following key tasks:
- Operate and maintain state of the art equipment & technology
- Follow schedules and procedures accurately
- Be on rotation on each of our packaging lines (canning, kegging, bottling)
As a cider apprentice you will also take part in events and experience a full “pip to pint” induction gaining a full understanding of how our other departments operate.

You will complete the food and drink industry foundation apprenticeship in food and drink processing in partnership with our training provider, Bridgewater & Taunton College. As part of our Young Talent Programme we will develop your skills and knowledge through a range of business seminars and networking opportunities that will give you a thorough insight into our industry and business.
