Pulling A Thatchers Lorry Is Thirsty Work For Pub Regulars

Last weekend a Thatchers lorry was seen being pulled along a 50 yard stretch of road in aid of charity.

Landlord Paul Sprackman of the Criterion pub in Weston Super Mare, invited strength in numbers with teams pulling the 7.5 tonne lorry to raise money for two charities, Weston Hospicecare, and the RNLI. Six teams – most of four, but some with just one – took part in the challenge with upwards of £600 being donated to the pub’s nominated charities of the RNLI and Weston Hospicecare.

Paul Sprackman said, “This was definitely thirsty work. Thank you to everyone who came along on the day to support us, we raised a fantastic amount for our local charities. A special thanks to Thatchers Cider for the loan of the lorry, and driver Trevor Wyatt, who really entered into the spirit of the event.”

The pub laid on music into the evening, as well as a barbecue, creating a special StreetFest for pub regulars and local residents.
