Thatchers Cider is looking for the next generation of cidermakers!

As part of its Thatchers Talent Programme, the family run cidermaker will be holding a Careers Day on Saturday 8th February at Myrtle Farm in Sandford.

The day will give people the chance to find out more about the range of exciting careers opportunities available, from apprenticeships through to university placements.

Thatchers Cider is a dynamic and innovative family cidermaker, with brands including Thatchers Gold, Thatchers Haze, Thatchers Rosé, and most recently, its new alcohol-free cider Zero. Currently employing 200 people, and with the company growing year on year, Thatchers is a company really making an impact. With an emphasis on creating the best quality cider in the most sustainable way, its name is known not just across the UK but as far afield as Australia too.

Emma Cox, Thatchers Talent Development Manager says, “We’re always looking for remarkable and motivated people to join our Thatchers family.  We know it’s a big decision to take your first steps into a career, and at Thatchers we will give you all the training, support and development you need to succeed.  What we ask in return is hard-work, trust and for you to share the same enthusiasm and passion for our cider and business as we do.

“The Careers Day is a great introduction to finding out about the opportunities at Thatchers, have a tour of our facilities, and meet some of the amazing and inspiring people that work here.

“As a company we’re so proud of our Somerset roots. We’re committed to investment in our facilities here in Sandford, which is why all our ciders are made and packaged here. That leads to a wide variety in roles – from being part of our farm team, to a cidermaker; from engineers to sales executives ; from finance to IT specialists.”

The current vacancies for September 2020 include apprenticeships within the Brand Academy, Chef Academy, Cider Academy, and Finance, and University Placements.

The Thatchers apprenticeship programme has won a string of awards since it was set up two years ago. The company is a firm supporter of the government’s National Apprenticeship 2020 Fire It Up Campaign and holds it careers day as part of the 2020 National Apprenticeship Week. During the day you will have the chance to meet our apprentices and our partner colleges.

Emma continues,

“Apprentices get a win-win – real work, in a real company, and a guaranteed salary. From our side as an employer we get to see a fresh injection of talent, keen, inquisitive people bursting with new ideas. Our apprentices make a real difference to our business – they work, collaborate and learn. We can’t wait to welcome new members to the team!”
