Welcome to our 5 star hotel – for wildlife!
If you’ve been walking or cycling the Strawberry Line lately you may have noticed a 4m high stone tower appearing at the heart of the farm. It’s our new hotel – for nature!
The Thatchers Nature Tower was designed by the Barn Owl Trust and is a perfect habitat for creatures such as owls, bats, birds and insects. Set within the acre of wildlife haven, we’re expecting to see Lesser Horseshoe bat, over-wintering butterflies, Blue Tits, Little Owls, Kestrels, Barn Owls, House Sparrows, toads, slow worms and mice, all of whom can nest simultaneously in here.
You see, at Myrtle Farm the 5-star treatment is not just reserved for our customers or our apple trees, it’s given to the whole supporting cast of cider makers; from the two and half million bees who make the farm their home and help pollinate the trees, to the tiny insects that enrich the soil.
As a family company we’ve been working in partnership with nature for 120-years. From planting new orchards using regenerative farming methods, to enhancing biodiversity with wildflower areas – or creating an acre of wildlife haven.
We’re excited to see who makes this tower their home and meet our new neighbours!
