Young Hopefuls Get Tips From The Professionals
A group of keen young cricketers from Winscombe had the chance to take part in Somerset County Cricket’s School of Excellence recently, and in between coaching sessions were able to watch the one day game against Durham, which Somerset won by five wickets.
Peter Searle, chairman of Winscombe Cricket Club, who arranged the coaching session as part of Thatchers Cider’s partnership with Somerset County Cricket, said the event is one that the club members really value.
“As well as having a great day out at The County Ground, our youngsters really benefitted from using the club’s facilities, and having excellent professional coaching from the experts. The Q&A session with South African international all-rounder Johann Myburgh was also a big hit with everyone.
“We’d like to thank Dan Quick at Somerset for his enthusiastic coaching, and to Thatchers for once again enabling us to benefit from this great opportunity.”
Martin Thatcher, Managing Director of Thatchers Cider, adds, “We have been able to facilitate this day of coaching for Winscombe Cricket for a number of years now, as part of our association with Somerset County Cricket Club. Being able to involve our local community in activities such as this are a key part of both Somerset’s and our own ethos.”
